چکیده

A methodological framework for analyzing and modeling of multivariate data is introduced. In a first step, a cluster method extracts data segments of quasi-stationary states. A novel cluster criterion for segment borders is introduced, which is independent of the number of clusters. Its assessment reveals additional robustness towards initial conditions. A subsequent dynamical systems based modeling (DSBM) approach focuses on data segments and fits low-dimensional dynamical systems for each segment. Applications to middle latent auditory evoked potentials yield data segments, which are equivalent to well-known waves from electroencephalography studies. Focussing to wave Pa , two-dimensional dynamical systems with common topological properties are extracted. These findings reveal the common underlying dynamics of Pa and indicate self-organized brain activity. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 02.50.Sk; 05.45

Comparison of the extratympanic electrocochleography in human and rabbit

Electrocochleography (ECoG) records the electrophysiologic activity of the most peripheral part of the auditory system, the inner ear cochlea and the 8th nerve. Auditory evoked potentials being recorded are Cochlear Microphonic (CM) and Summating Potential (AP). In order to provide the proper background for laboratory research and introducing an ECoG curve of a model animal, it was decided to...

Recording of auditory middle latency evoked potentials during the practice of meditation with the syllable 'OM'.

Middle latency auditory evoked potentials were examined in 7 proficient subjects during the practice of meditation on the syllable 'OM', to determine whether these potentials would differ significantly from those recorded during the baseline state without practicing mediation. Similar records were also obtained in 7 'naive' subjects, matched for age, before and during a control period which inv...

Middle Latency Auditory Evoked Potential (MLAEP) in Workers with and without Tinnitus who are Exposed to Occupational Noise

BACKGROUND Tinnitus is an important occupational health concern, but few studies have focused on the central auditory pathways of workers with a history of occupational noise exposure. Thus, we analyzed the central auditory pathways of workers with a history of occupational noise exposure who had normal hearing threshold, and compared middle latency auditory evoked potential in those with and w...

Early, Mid, and Late-Latency Auditory Evoked Potentials During Pregnancy: Two Cases

Objective: There are various known hormone-related effects on audiometric thresholds and other auditory measures; however, research is scarce and mixed on the effect of pregnancy on the early-, mid-, and late-latency auditory evoked responses in a longitudinal fashion. Of clinical importance is to know whether electrophysiologic measures during pregnancy may further alter the results of, or mas...

نوروپاتی شنوایی در دو بیمار مبتلا به نوروپاتی عمومی: گزارش موردی

Background: Although it is not a new disorder, in recent times we have attained a greater understanding of auditory neuropathy (AN). In this type of hearing impairment, cochlear hair cells function but AN victims suffer from disordered neural transmission in the auditory pathway. The auditory neuropathy result profile often occurs as a part of that of the generalized neuropathic disorders, indi...
